Change Your Paradigm About Health Insurance

if you click on the title above you can get the bad news first hand. Guess what ? Your insurance premiums are going to rise again. They will continue this pattern for the next 20-30 years as the baby boomers hit retirement age and begin to access the medical system with greater regularity. So what does this mean ? It means the following:

1. Expect to pay more each year for your insurance. Your deductibles will continually rise. coinsurance and copay amounts will go up, all the while trying to make you feel sorry that they are operating at a supposed loss.

2. Expect your insurance to cover less of the things that you are looking for in the health care arean. These would be natural alternatives such as chiropractic, naturopathy, emotional release techniques, natural dentistry and energetic techniques such as acupuncture and a host of others. So in effect you are getting less coverage and paying more.

3. Health insurance will continue to cover deathbed interventions and invasive surgeries 100%, but will not cover the preventative care that would have stopped the necessity of surgery or deathbed intervention.

4. Increasing fee cutting to your health care practitioner of choice and increase premiums to you mean someone is making a lot of money. I will give you three guesses on who that is and the first two don't count.

5. You will increasingly see the need to follow what you know to be right for the healthcare of you and your family regardless of whether it is covered by your insurance. I constantly tell patients at my office not to let their insurance company dictate what type and frequency of healthcare they get. If you do you will constantly find yourself in a sickness model of healthcare on an increasing number of pharmaceutical drugs, all the while your quality of life diminishing. It is your responsibility to do what you know to be helpful. The insurance company in the end really doesn't care a lot about whether you get well, their main focus is reducing claims, pure and simple.

Hope that this brings up some interesting discussion at home and in the office.

Have a great night

There are so many others but I will stop here.

Thyroid Problems

Just a note on thyroid problems. Current medical and health care wisdom is starting to lean towards the fact that the thyroid can be symptomatic, relatively speaking both hypo and hyper thyroid conditions. Another words the thyroid is just the part of the endocrine system that is like a circuit breaker for everything else. When there are other inbalances occurring often times the fuse that blows is the thyroid.

It is too long her to explain all the trouble shooting but if you have questions you can email me at drclouthier@gmail.com

Medical/Pharma begins to police itself..finally

Check out this link

You were probably wondering the same thing after you read this. What the heck has taken so long. Every other profession in health care is scrutinized up the wazoo but until now, the medical and pharmaceutical companies have gotten a big pass. Looks like the tide is turning. Stay tuned

Acupuncture

check this one out. Another article showing the positive effects acupuncture on back pain. There have been other studies that have shown same for knee pain also. Consider giving acupuncture a try before proceeding to further more invasive approaches. I have seen near miraculous results with certain conditions using acupuncture in my office. Check out this website to learn a little more about this thousand years old approach to natural health care.

It would be nice if one day when one of these studies is done, they ask a chiropractor, the experts on low back pain, to get involved. I know, I know silly me :) Can you say "economics"

Studies say Vaginal Birth Better

New study points to the fact that in women who opt to have c section vs a vaginal delivery with no reason outside of preference are exposing newborn to higher death risk. The risk is significantly higher that for vaginal births. Researchers don't exactly seem to know why yet.

The simple answer would be that someone :) designed the female body to house a baby for approximately 10 months in a uterus, at which time for some reason (someone made it that way) the baby decides that it wants to leave this warm home through a canal that seems perfect for this job called the vagina. Why do we always have to mess with the design as it was created. Do we think or presume that we know better how the body should deliver a baby ? If you are an ob/gyn that performs routine C sections in 2006, I guess the answer is yes to that question. Statistics have and will continue to support that statistically there are overall less risks and better outcomes with leaving birth alone and letting the body do what it naturally does. Last I checked for thousands of years women have been bearing children through the vagina not out there abdomen. This is need for c-section is a creation of our modern western medical system for the typical birth.

Have a great evening

Let's Beat the Flu Horse One More Time

Check out these two articles when you get a chance. They will highlight the utter stupidity of flu vaccinations. Article one shows that the major flu vaccine in 2004 was not effective on the largest strain of flu virus present in the U.S. The second article is more current and ends with a statement that we have "lots more work to do". This work would be seeing if we can get everyone immunized so that we can create super resistant forms of influenza. Sounds like a plan to me. If you want to help with this project, just head on down to your local MD this flu season. It seems likely they will have plenty of vaccines on hand for men, women and children.

There must be something wrong with this picture and I am just not sure where to start.

Adrenal Fatigue - 21st Century Syndrome

Adrenal fatigue is probably the most commonly treated nutritional and emotional issue that I work with in my office. The title of this post is also the title of a book written by Wilson. In my opinion it is the best book written on adrenal fatigue and all its issues. There are many natural ways that we approach this. You must remember that adrenal fatigue is a multifactorial issue. If you want to combat it you must combat it on an emotional, nutritional/chemical and structural level. Just attacking cortisol levels or Dhea will not do the trick and will give you a quick band aid but not fix the causes.

If you give this book a read and check out this website you will find out all you need to know about this condition and where to start. If you need help give us a call.

Bioidentical Hormones...Try the Natural Way

Another article and study showing the deleterious effects of synthetic progestin use. Of course because of this knowledge that was brought to light more than three years ago now, we see a spate of medical personal who are bio-identical hormone specialists. The only problem is that we are still not getting back to the cause. Simply manipulating specific hormones (chasing hormone balance) without really getting at the cause of the hormone balance in the first place will have its backlash.

If you would like to get to the root of hormone balance from a structural, nutritional and emotional/spiritual perspective check out this website . Read the general information here first and then call us with any more detailed questions. We will be happy to help restore natural health in your life.

Condoms and Cancers

Women, this post should be of particular interest to you. It appears that the unprotected male outside of a monogamous relationship could cause your cervical or uterine cancer to worsen. This is no surprise as we have known for years that aids tends to spread faster in areas where condoms are not used as a shield/form of birth control. Unless you are absolutely sure of your partners past sexually speaking I suggest "gloving up". If the guy doesn't want to do that for your sake, maybe he is not worth keeping around in the first place.

Just a thought
